Unemployed!

I recently have been placed on the rolls of the unemployed. It sucks. My employer (Newcome Electronic Systems), who had been in business in one form or another for the last 32 years, has been forced by the bank to close its doors, effectively putting me out of a job.

I started with Newcome in their residential division, Digital Interiors. I learned a lot about the Audio/Visual business while working for another company, Audio Encounters, and continued developing those skills while at Digital Interiors.

Thanks to those prior experiences, and a general manager who thought I had the intelligence and capability to step up to the next level, I moved to the corporate office at Newcome and took over the responsibilities of programming all AV control systems. This required me to quickly learn how to program and troubleshoot AMX control systems, as well as being able to configure and troubleshoot all video and voice conferencing systems. I worked extremely hard that first year, to earn certifications in numerous disciplines including AMX programming (ACE), Extron AV Associate (EAVA), and Polycom Video & Voice Solutions. As well as configuring multiple DSP’s, including Clearone, Gentner, Biamp, and Vortex, not to mention the numerous other pieces of AV equipment.

Thrown into the fire and somehow managed to escape without getting burned – I thrive on being challenged. Unfortunately, right now, my biggest challenge is finding new employment doing what I’ve come to love to do. Take technology and make it simple for someone else to use.

Wish me luck.
